Default 5.0 help

OK A guy (dork) on my local forum says that his friend has a 8???? whatever mustang coupe with a 302 making 228rwhp. And he says that this guys is running low 12's. He is claiming that it's all matched parts. Even though he has no juice, he still saying he runs low 12's maybe high 11's.

Can you guys just give me a little to go by cause if that were so, I think I would see alot more 11 sec stangs at our track.
Some of the mods are tubular k-member, ET streets, 4.10's, STOCK Lincoln 5.0 shortblock, TFS heads, cobra intake, injectors, MAF, TB and TFS Stage 1 cam.

Can anyone give me some input here, please?

a lot depends on the weight of the car and the launch.
I have seen almost stock 5.0s in stripped to almost nothing shells, run those kind of times.

There is a guy on here with a stock motor, 225 running low 12's too....I think it is a lot to do with tires, tranny(he has a built automatic) and a stall, gears...but it is possible.

For sure its possible, you guys are totally right, theres too many variables. But yeah, if he can hook up on the line and if he has some mods...and most importantly knows how to drive.[sm=gears.gif]

if he has tfs and stuff like that in a notch yes he is running 11's-12's. if its a stock motor that runs good in a notch its still possable.

id say he could hit 12's with what you said. he may be a b/s'er too but it could be done with what he said. good traction and 4:10 gears and a top end setup like that could pull it off. im not saying HE is doing it, but it could be done,

i doubt it.

car and driver would have to be down to about 2200 lbs to run low 12's w 230 rwhp

hitting 12's yes.....but even thats hard.

11's....absolutely no way , i can't even see where you could cut 1200 lbs off a a car.

Thanks for all the info. Even though I am a Chevy guy, I like to hang out on this forum for this very reason. Help no matter what you drive.
Thanks.

Good point Bob.....the best I've ever done with mine was a 12.80 1/4 mile. I guess a good start for the 1200lb reduction would be to make the coupe into a vert!
