just found an 86 5.0 with t-tops the other day for a grand. looked over the car, it had a fresh black maaco paint job, not to bad tho, decent interior, looked to be pretty clean. as i looked over the car i noticed on my second pass there was caulk around the top of the window on the d/s and around the t-top also. i know where to get the real weather strips, but i was wondering, could this guy have messed it up by putting the caulk on there? i mean, i'm more concerned with the condition of the motor than anything else, but i love the t-tops and don't wanna end up with a headache (my 66 is giving me a big enough one!). i passed by the house last night and the car was pulled back in the driveway so i dont know if it's sold or not. i'm gonna see and find out about taking a look under the hood. any advice you guys can give me is greatly appreciated.

my 82 had t-tops and someone had done that same thing and put caulking on there. I just pulled it out and new weatherstripping made it work perfect. For a grand i wouldnt worry too much about a little caulking on the t-tops.

eventually you'll wanna get that caulk out, and fix it right, but a grand is a giveaway.
