well assuming your engine hasn't started going metal on metal or wiping bearings I'd suspect the guage and/or sender... since the guage only really reads what the sender tells it to that narrows it down to the most probable (but not guranteed) component at fault: pressure sending unit... replace it... you'll probably be alright... it's probably just fouled up somewhere.

that seems like good idea. ill check that out. is only done it like 10 times in 2 or 3 months. it must be clogged or going bad. where is the sender located?

ehhh, it's easy to not even think twice about what that sender is... it's right in the block and anyone who doesn't know what it looks like could just as easily think it's a coolant or block temp sensor.

hrmm... wait... I need to know what motor you have....
