Nitto 555r drag radials if you want a balance of good grip and long wear. Regular street tires do not do that well at the track.

the BFG drag radials are supposed to be awesome but only last for
5-10,000 miles.

Everyone seems to like Nitto high performance tires.
and then maybe have a pair of M-T street slicks to put on the back
when you go to the track.

I'm on my first pair of BFG Radials, and they have about 3k on them, and probably ten runs.. No tread wear to speak of yet.

Untill you make some real serious HP the Nitto's work OK, personally I don't use them, I have the BFG, but I am assuming he wants to daily drive these tires and not have two sets of rims/tires. If this is the case the Nitto is good, but if it's a weekend car I would suggest the M/T or BFG, they just hook 10 times better than a Nitto.
