Default Reading codes w/a paperclip?

Just wondering if someone would take the time to break down to me the way in which you read codes using the MIL. My book says to follow the koeo and koer test procedures to run codes using the MIL. Is that correct? Also, can I only look at certain types of codes using the MIL. I'm a bit confused. Any instructions would be appreciated.

Sorry dude...not to ***** up the thread. But i think you need a voltage meter and you count the beeps or something like that. I cant really remember how to do it.

basically, turn the key on, engine off. the MIL will come on. I dont know which pins you need to probe with your paper clip, but when you do it, the MIL will flash a few times, then pause, then flash a few more times. thats how it gives you codes. The first code it gives out is just to say that the computer is working correctly. After that it'll give you a series of codes like a 24, 36, etc. When it gives these codes it will do something like this..

FLASH..FLASH....longer pause...FLASH..FLASH..FLASH..FLASH. that would be a code 24. Like i said though, im not sure on which pins you use. i hope that helps some

That does help, Fiveliter. With your info, and what I've just read on the net, I think I can get through it. Thanks again.

If you can find out which pins you use, let me know.
