yea the canister infront of the smog pump, there is a sensor down there. thats what u need.

i was reading page 107 i think.

is that sensor on the cannister the purge solenoid? the pictures in this book are crappy. they dont even have a trouble code chart in it. waste of money

i told u where it is. it has a 2 wire plug, and a vac line in one side and out the other. its got a t fitting on top.

Check this wiring diagram for your '88.

For code 85, make sure you get a 12vdc output from the red wire at the Canister Purge (CANP) solenoid, Ign On. Remove CANP solenoid and do a bench test as follows: Connect 12vdc source to one of the pins and toggle a ground to the other pin, you should hear/feel the solenoid activate/click, if it doesn't the CANP needs to be replaced.

For code 94 you can follow these functional testing procedures, suggest to remove the TAB/TAD solenoids and do a bench test similar to the CANP to verify they're functional. Also make sure the vacuum lines are not broken and the vacuum supply to the solenoids is present. Check this vacuum diagram to trace the lines. Hope this helps.
