Fuel Pump Issue
Well I just had the fuel pump replaced about 4 months ago. This morning it filled her up and she wouldnt turn over. I cant hear the pump spinning either. I checked the relay and I can hear it clicking when I turn the key and the inertia switch is not engaged. Any ideas what it could be?

RE: Fuel Pump Issue
I pulled the relay out from under the seat and turned the key over, I can hear it clicking so I dont think its the relay. Is there a fuse under the hood for the pump?
I hope its not the pump itself I just filled it up to the brim.

RE: Fuel Pump Issue
On my 87 I put a new fuel pump in...I did not test it before I put the thing back up .
I turned the key...I did not hear the pump kick on and nothing...Come to find out it was a defective pump. What an idiot I was for not testing it 1st... I guess you live and learn

Use this '91 wiring diagram (Courtesy of TMoss and Veryuseful.com), I know you hear the relay clicking, but you need to make sure the relay contact points are not damaged, not allowing voltage to get through the relay to the pump.
Check the Dk Grn/Yel wire pin at the FP relay for voltage, with a test light, when you hear the relay activate....if you don't get voltage out, the relay needs to be replaced......if you get voltage, do the same test at the inertia switch....if you get voltage at both ends of the cutoff switch....there's a good possibility the pump is bad....unless there is a contact problem at the connector on the tank. My 2ยข.

RE: Fuel Pump Issue
good stuff thanks. I decided to go ahead and drop the tank and check the pump direct off the battery. I got it down but which ring loosens the pump on top of the tank (theres 2) and is it loosened counterclockwise?
