what kind of parts do i need? i'm trying to budget it out, but i have no idea what i need to do it. this will be my first attempt at something like this. i've swapped out motors before but thats easy. Is there any fabrication neccesary?

im not familiar with aod's really...but if its electronic, you will need a new ecu, because the ecu will want to shift, when you dont have an automatic....i ran into this prob when swapping a t5 into a 95 gt....

not to sound like a jerk but the cheepest & simplest way is to buy a car with a 5-spd & sell yours & swap all the parts you want to keep. hell you might even get some new mods in the deal. but if your slushbox is shot or your super attached to your car I would look for a parts car keep the extra parts you want & sell the rest on e-bay might even break even if you break up the car.

RE: AOD to T-5 swap

Word of advice... 94-95 T5 trannies DO NOT WORK! These trannies are in reality a T50D which has a 5/8" longer input shaft then what you would be using, the crossmembers also do not match up either. SO just stay away from 94-95 T5's. I have a 95' V6 stang with a T50D and I have had one hell of a time finding a replacment transmission for it and even rebuilding it is a pain if i were to go that way. I cant use a T5 from ANYTHING but a 94 or 95 V6 or GT... Aint da just ****ty??

Anyways, stay away from those years, just trouble.

Good Luck

Well i don't want to sell the car. I have to much money in it. i'll never break even unless i part it out, and its to pretty of a car to do that to. I don't think its electronic. I don't think they started those till 94. I was pushing towards the Tremec tranny. they seem to be the best around.

im in the process of doin the swap rite now and its not to complecated..first u need to find a doner car with a t-5 and take everything off of it that u need

trans
flywheel
clutch linkage
whole clutch/brake assembly
clutch

hardest part of doing it is getting the pedals out
other than that it basically bolts rite up..

i did this to my project stang last year. te hardest part is getting the clutch pedal in, you will also need a nutral safty switch, harness for tranny, clutch cable and quadrent, flywheel and clutch. its pritty easy once the pedal is in. get a chiltons book on your car if u dont have one already, it helped me out trenendously (SP)
