Default Why autos?

Not trying to be smart or anything--I honestly want to know: Why do people buy automatic GTs (or sportscars, for that matter)? Is it preference, or availability. Again, not trying to diss anyone.

Because, for one, there's less to worry about, you don't have to worry about changing your clutch every 100k. In stop and go traffic in the city you don't have to keep going.. 1st-clutch-1st-clutch. And imagine you've been driving a standard your whole life and your 50? Would you care if you got an automatic or not? I'd be lovin' the auto after driving standard for so long.

looked for along time and coulnt find a 5-speed that wasnt ragged out. i bought my 91gt bone stock never even had a tune-up done. $3500 in 1999. most of the autos were girls cars so there in better shape than 5-speeds for the same price.

Little bit of work you can make a auto shift harder then a 5speed.

i would never buy an auto...well, not until i'm like 60. manuals are WAY more fun, i like the control you have over your car with a stick.
