Default longtubes

I just purchased a set of longtube headers and I'm in the process of getting a h-pipe made. I was wondering why go with a h-pipe and not just straight pipes? Is there a benefit to having an H over straight exhaust? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Good question. I've been wondering myself. It seems like I heard that I helps even out the pressure from both sides of the exhaust, but I'm definately NOT an expert.

definitely go with an H or X pipe. they work much better than straight pipes not connected from side to side. improves the cylinder scavanging effect by connecting both sides of the motor in a common pipe. latest information I saw says the X pipe is actually the hot ticket right now for maximum performance.

Thanks for the help on the straight pipes. I hear you get a little more torque with an x-pipe, is that true?

Well, not every performance part you can buy will deliver the kind of gains in horsepower and torque the promise.

sad but oh so true! trust us on this about the pipes though, it's right on information, especially for the low end torque help you get with an H or X pipe. I promise I will never bulls**t you on something important!

Thanks for all your help roundmanracing.I think I'll go with an X, is there any difference in the sound between a H & X pipe?

don't really know as I have an off road H pipe and no mufflers right now and it is bad! the H did sound good with mufflers when I still drove it on the street, but I never really compared the sound with an X, so I can't say about them. why don't you post a poll and ask guys to rate which they like best and see what they say!
