Default Timing RPM

When setting the timing on a 88 302 EFI with stock ignition does it matter what the RPM is? In other words, should the engine be at a certain RPM when setting the timing? Like 12 deg. at 1400 RPM.

Default RE: Timing RPM

It shoudl be idling.. taking the spout connector off disables the computer control of timing at a certain rpm.

Default RE: Timing RPM

ya man just let it idle. start at about 12 degress, then take it out on the road for a full throttle test. then come back and bump the timing another degree or 2 then tack it back on the road for another full throttle test. keep doing this until u hear any pinging or knocking then back the timing off a couple degrees and u will be good to go!!
