How do you guys mount radar detectors?

How do you guys mount radar detectors?
I'm thinking about getting a radar, but in my lx the power outlet is down where I rest my hand(in that center consolt) which would mean I'd have to run a wire up to the windshield, which would get in the way of shifting(and look horrible). Do you guys hide the wires or something?
Thanks
Thanks

it's really not that hard to go down to Radio Shack and get
a few wires and parts to easily run the wires thru the dash
Plent of hot wires to splice into behind the radio.
You should be able to do it in an afternoon.

I always mounted mine in the lower left hand corner of the windshield on the dash. Then I just cut the end off of the power cord that plugs into the lighter, you can run the wires down the edge of the dash and wire it straight to the fuse box.Just ground one of the wires and run the other to the lighter fuse or I always wired it to something that was only hot when the key is on that way you don't always have to turn it on and off or forget to turn it on.

Nitrox, I am an electrical newb too. I can build a computer and all but that's about it.
I bought a Valentine V1 and it came with an extra long cable and a short springy one. I mounted the radar to the top right over the mirror right under my top tint, I ran the extra long one through the ceiling (about 2 inches of exposed BLACK (matches interior) line right over the mirror, actually looks good) then I put it into the ceiling, ran it through the panel on the side and ran it into the radio wires and mounted it there. It's clean as hell. Really easy too, took me 20 minutes and it takes me at least 3 damn hours to do ANYTHING on my car.

I get rid of the ciggarette lighter attachement, and wire it to an empty spot on the fuse box and pop a small fuse in. I cut the cord in half and and lengthen em, run it through the dash, up behind the pillars, up through the headliner, down the top, center of windshield and mount the radar detector at the top then trim the 2 wires to length. Can only see about 2 inches of wire, looks by far the best.

right now my detector is just using the springy cord into the accesory outlet because its mounted on the dash and there was really no point in trying to route wires without cutting a hole in the dash[&:]
