Default Spark plug gap.

Just did some maintenance on my 91 GT Plugs, Brakes, and airfilter. Doing rear brakes sucks, But I ran into an issue when I purchased my plugs I bought Bosch Platinum from kragen and the guy told my the gap for my car was .054, Chiltons manual also saids .054, but my emission label under the hood saids .042 to .046 so I went with that. Just for the info. my car is all stock. my question is where do they get the .054? For my front brake pads the ford dealer was able to locate the OEM pads but I paid $95 for them but thats ok because the original ones lasted 50k miles.

Default RE: Spark plug gap.

I just bought some Autolite Double Platinum spark plugs for my stang last night. I have them gapped at .45. I haven't gotten to try them out yet because I ripped one of my spark plug wires, so I just left it until later on today. It turns out that the plug wire that I ripped was barely even on the spark plug itself. I guess I've only been running 7 cylinders instead of all 8 of them...
I really have no idea what the difference is between gapping the plugs and why it matters. It will be some good info to know though.

not to burst your buble guys spark plug really won't give you more horsepower..other from them being wore out...I just use autolite about 20 bux and they last me for years....now buy a set of low ohms wires is money well spent

must..dude you should had bought a set met. carbon brakes and with the extra $$$ brought a set of 76mm calipers..it would stop alot better as the brakes on our foxes isn't the best in the world
