Gas prices are based on futures... kinda like a commodity (sp)... gas prices now are based on projected issues with supply and demand issues in the future, so gas right now might actually only be costing them $1.50 to make, but they're charging $3.00 to you because they're projecting the supply to drop and/or the demand to go up. Or at least thats how i interperet it.

It doens't help that Bush and all of his buddies have $$$ invested in oil companies and such, so he wouldn't do crap about it if he could.

how does raising the prices secure our oil if their whole arguement is there isnt enough oil in the first place? it contradicts itself...

the united states has access to a "reserve" that could supply this country for decades and could bring gas prices down to 50 cents a gallon because the supply is right here in america.

gas prices are barely affected by supply and demand.. what effects gas prices is the tax. the price for a gallon of gas is really around $1.25 and the rest is tax. here in MA state tax is 70 cents a gallon.

who approves of these taxes AND creates new taxes daily? the one and only george bush... yeah it might not be his idea but he manipulates the market so there is no other choice but to keep taxing...

i'm telling you **** is going to hit the fan soon, and everyones going to be pointing fingers except george bush because hes the one everyone else will be pointing at...

oil companies dont set gas prices, gas prices are set by traders.

ever see the movie "Trading Places" and how they drove the price
of orange juice up and down by trading it?
Same thing with gasoline.

Oil companies just produce gas, wallstreet sets prices.

besides all that lets say say you go thru 50 gallons of gas every month
price of gas has gone up $1 per gallon.
So you're spending an extra $50 month on gas?

If $50 more per month on gas is killing you than you need to go buy a Civic or Escort
or something then.

wow, this is really highjacking the thread but

do you really want to use the "reserve" before we have another engergy source?

Yes, b/c if we start using the reserve and not relying on foreign sources, they'd have no choice but to drop their prices since the US is the largest consumer of oil. They wouldn't be getting crap. Then, when they lower they're prices, we can go back to using there's.

weve been paying for futures for a year now, an executive recently retired from exxon with a 50 million dollar severence pay, on top of a 9.8 million a year sallary
prices wont go down much, they'll continue to rise, drop slightly, rise more, fact is we'll buy gas no matter what, just stop buying other things. when prices went up last year us economy droped 3% it'll be worse this year oil companies are makeing a collective 500 billion a year profits

also the gov. could easily lower prices atleast somewhat but refuse to adjust tax on fuel based on riseing price
in septemper 05 state/federal tax averaged in the us 45.9 cents per gallon its much higher now, but dont know the state/local taxes offhand federal is 18.4 cents these taxes added up to at the time $271 for every man women and child in the us. based on total fuel use

not bad for a tax that started at 1 cent per gallon in the 50's ...

and "wallstreet" doesent set prices, stocks can affect them indirectly but not enough to justify mentioning it

also "if $50 a montyh is killing you buy a civic" $50 a month is alot of money and affects everyone im sure youve never sat at the pump watching the price fly up and gallons barely move and not get get annoyed, and if your makeing enough money that it doesent matter im jealous

I hate it when people say they hate Bush...they have no reason to! You should hate our Senate...our Legislative branch! Anything but Bush...if you bash Bush it just makes you look like a tard!
