It is a ton of work! I did my wheels on my Kawi and it was pretty smooth under the paint to start with. Aircraft paint stripper, steel wool 3 different grades, drill with buffer pad, and the best advice when you get down to the finish use Mothers Billit. It has a little grit to help you. The red and white can of Mothers is a cream only and won't do much but keep the shine after your done. Like said before if you don't seal it you'll have to stay right on top of it! Here are a couple before and after pics.
