5.0 - 205 or 225 HP/275 or 300 torque??
After doing some research on my newly aquired 92 LX convertible, I found those two different sets of numbers for the non-cobra models. Is this true, I have either a 205 or 225 HP/ 275 or 300 torque 5.0??

87-95 all had the same HP = 225, TQ = 300 @ the flywheel. The reason you're finding different #'s is b/c Ford changed the way they calculated their #'s in 93. It will put down the same as anyone else's stock.

I knew they changed the way they were rated, but does anyone know how? 225 at flywheel, so where is the 205 measured? Just curious.
Also, why did they change that? Did they start measuring more like how other comapnies do?

^^^ right. Car manufacturers should have to quote rwhp and tq for their #'s. FW doesn't mean crap, anyway.
87-95 stangs usually dyno 180-190 hp/265-285tq at the wheels. I've heard of a few being better than that, but I would consider that a freak....unusually high.

actually they changed the numbers in 1993.
1992 rated 225 hp 300 tq forged aluminum pistons
1993 rated 205 hp 275 tq hypereutectic pistons
Here is some good reading on it... Mustang Specs go to the left of the page and click "infor by year" in the small blue letters. Then pick the 1992 and 1993 years and see the difference. They say it changed because of some mechanical changes. I know this is a specific GT mustang site but the engines were all the same!
