supposedly the X is slightly better than the H as far as making max power goes. connecting both sides of the motor with an H or X improves the cylinder scavageing effect the exhaust has on getting the burnt gases out of the cylinders. separate straight pipes from each side not connected is not as efficient, so the H or X is the only way to go.
