Ok muffler GURUS i need advice!
OK i have open shorty headers no cats no mufflers and 45 degree angled dumps at the rear axle.Well my problem is when im going say at about 3,000 or higher and let off it cackles and is really raspy and is most likely going to get me a ticket with the new bull **** laws theyre passing here about stereos and loud pipes so my question is im looking into a set of flowmasters since i have them on my SHO and they ****ing ROCK!
I plan to install them right at the rear axle and run the dumps off the mufflers for a nice deep throaty sound but my question is how much at idle and WOT is this going to quiet it as well as taking care of that cackle when i let off the gas.My only reasoon for the mufflers is to take of this cackle when i let off it got any ideas?
I like the sound of the flow masters but i want them to be the loudest yet take that cackle out and put in a rumble which ones do i want and what are a good price for them uninstalled of course just the mufflers?

I'm no guru, but on my car with an h-pipe and straight-threw magnaflows, stock engine, it cackles a bit when coasting in gear, makes that popping sound. My guess is that if you have a free flowing exhaust, that will not go away because when you dont give it throttle, there is a vacuum created in the exhaust that sucks up cold air into the system, and when it, the cold air, gets heated up, it pops. I doubt mufflers will fix that, and if they do, they aren't the best muffs.

think the cackle is something that's going to happen anytime you lift off the gas like that, especially without any restrictions, it's a natural thing! I kinda like it myself.
the loud Flows are the 2 chamber versions-Holcomb Motorsports has them for $59.95 in 2-1/4" and 2-1/2" sizes. the 3 chamber version is $71.99 each. they also show a race muffler, 2-1/2" center in and out for $69.95. you can order them at 1-800-475-7223 or check out www.holcombmotorsports.com see page 35 in the 2004 catalog.
They have some of the best prices on Mustang parts I have found anywhere for new parts.
keep on killing them GM bowties!

my 455 olds has full lenth headers & 2 1/2 pipes back to 2 chamber 2 1/2 flowmastters with no tailpipes. my stang has stock exhaust with 3 year old glasspacks the olds is much much louder (although I have only peen pulled over for noise in the stang??? may be the historic plates who knows) if you think your car will be to quiet I doubt it will I acutaly think the olds is a little too loud.

I've got the 2 chamber flows (40 series) on my 5.0 and it's pretty loud. I haven't been cited for noise. I've got a single 3-chamber (30 series) on my truck and it's not too loud. Loud enough to hear coming in a block away, but not so loud that it causes ill wanted attention.
