all you had to do was rev match. next time put it in neutral, let clutch out and rev it up to where the rpms would be in the lower gear, quickly put the clutch in and go to the lower gear,

'revmatch'? I will give it a try tomorrow. So basically if I want to downshift and I know my rpms are gonna jump to 4000, I just rev to like 4200, hit the clutch, and downshift? Sounds like I will be doing some grindin tomorrow till I get it right.

Hey,

You said a world class T5. As opposed to a regular T5? Anyway, what about the TKO600 and the T56? I don't no squat about any of them. I just want to be able to downshift like crazy. I love finally having a stickshift so I can take corners, also so I can slow down with the engine instead of replacing pads all the time.

I just had my T-5 Rebuilt at a local shop for 225 bucks, that included synchros and another aluminum bearing retainer. I bought the bearing kit myself though, so bassicly I escaped with a fresh tranny for 330 bucs just about. Sounds good to me, and should last me till I get money for a Direct Replacement for the T-5 That Richmond offers thats rated for 400 hp, and retails new for about 1350.00

Do you have any good tranny guys over on that side of TX? In Dallas, there's a guy that will to a GForce T5 for 1300 bux. That's the route I'd go or find a good used Tremec.

You should already have a WC T5, so that won't do you any good....besides, they're only rated to 300 tq, which is stock. Upgrade now so you don't have to do it agian later.

Also, if you got beat by a Hyundai, you must have stock gears...do yourself a favor and get AT LEAST 3.55's or higher [numerically].

gspfunk:

There are tons of tranny shops around here in El Paso. Everyone says to stay away from the southside by the border where a majority of them are, but I dought if it makes a difference. Anyway, I live more on the northside and there are two shops right down the road from me. I might go check them out....see what they say. I really don't want to rebuild the one I have since I hate waiting for people to work on my stuff for me. I figure I will get a good rebuilt or maybe find a junk one and try to do it myself. I am a decent mechanic....can't be all that difficult.

That's cool. See what they charge for different trannys....the guy I go to here only works on stangs for the most part, so he knows them backwards and forwards....His turnaround on a tranny is only 2 days, usually. I was just glad to find someone that knew what he was doing for a great price.

have you tried tried while downshifting reving the engine up so that the gears syncronize on the 3-2 down shift I hit 70 in 2nd w/ 3.55 so you'll do 50 in it easy just get the engine rpms up first
