Going to synthetic... maybe...

Going to synthetic... maybe...
Ive got a 94 5.0 and have been running 10w-30 from Chevron for the last while and I've thought about making the switch to synthetic. Is that a bad idea? Because I've heard only to use synthetics on a new car for the sake of the seals...
So my question is: should I start using synthetics with my car if its got 60k miles on it? And besides upping the life of my stang, what pros and cons can I expect from the synthetics?

The only con of synthetic is it's higher price. But the pros outweigh it if you care about the motor.
