which engine build to go with
alright guys here is the question. I only have limited funds and i think i can afford either one of these setups with what i have. I was either going to build a 347 bottom end and clean up my cobras heads(GT40s) with new springs and eveything and than go to a ford x cam or so. My other option was to build a 306 bottom end and with the money i saved with going with a 306 bottom end get a set of world roush 200cc heads and keep my 1.7s and go to a x-cam. I was wondering which one of these setups would produce the best power numbers. One other question...what do heads need to make them emissons legal. Because i dont know if the world heads would be smog legal. Thanks for all the help guys.

RE: which engine build to go with
You could go either way, Personally I'd go with a 306 and fly cut the pistons, get some Ford racing X303 heads or some RHS heads. Not to bad price wise, then i'd put a big cam in it and stuff. Honestly, I know a guy up the street with an absolutely built 331 DSS stroker motor making just under 350 at the wheels N/A. The ford small blocks just dont make that much power, nothing like the LS/LT1's. Ultimitly, I'd love to go with a 351. But i'm sure thats a bit different sine your running an efi set up. Read up on other peoples set up, I know alot use the 306 and the 347, see who would be running something similar to you. And see who makes the best power and times, and then do exactly what they did.
Good luck my friend

I'm pretty sure a 351 would be out of his budget or he would have listed it... 347
