Default Oil change question

I went to change my oil and hardly anything came out. Maybe a quart... I had the car running just before I started draining so I think the oil was still settling in the pan and that's why not much came out.. could that be true? I put the oil pan bolt back on to let the oil collect and checked the oil and the distick still said it was nearly full.

About how long should I be waiting to drain the oil after I shut off the car from a normal operating temp?
Thanks

on my 94 i have two drain plugs one up front and one on the bottom in the back sounds like you just removed the front one?

I have changed my oil as soon as I got home but I normally let it cool a little first.

You can change it right after its been running... (recommended) Take out the rear plug and it should all drain out....... If not youve got something pluggin it up and thats not good at all

Thats what I was afraid of cause the front bold was a bitch to get off I thought it was stripped and something was keeping the oil from getting out.. Turns out there are two plugs on the 94-98, front and back and thew back happened to keep most of the oil... Thanks guys

fox bodies all have two as well. You need both of them to get it all out.

I bet the reason for the front one being hard to get off is I bet the pervious owners never drain oil from it..

Probably, cuase most other cars aren't cool enough to have two drain plugs.

you gotta jack up the car so that the frot swaybar moves out of the way of the front drain plug on the foxers

Not on mine you don't, the part of the sway bar that's near the front plug is where the bushings are and it does nothing but rotate. I can't see it being different on any other year.

I think he did, it had a jiffy lube oil filter [&:] and had the paperwork for oil changes from them. But they tightened it was too much, it scared me. The back nut was easy as hell, so I don't know what happened there... The front drain plugs went off my sway bar, no big deal.
