you need a puller. there should also be a lock ring type of deal around the shaft. you'll have to depress a disc around the middle and pop out the ring, then use a puller to get the wheel off.

Yeah you need a puller, but dude. DUDE, LISTEN TO ME!!!

I did it in my 93 GT. The wiring is such a MASSIVE PITA it's rediculous. It's almost not even worth it unless you're a wiring genious or don't want a horn or cruise.

I got a Personal wheel built for an 89 GT from a friend and it uses a different system than the one in your car or mine. Unless the new wheel you have has a tape or a tape connector, it's not worth pulling the wheel.

It took me 9 hours to rewire my steering column so that I could use the horn and Cruise Control, and the stupid CC doesn't even work anymore.

There's wiring tape, you're gonna have to strip it, solder new connections, drill through your new wheel, and hope the connections don't break as you pull them, bend them, and twist them every which-a-way.

Honestly, try it if you want, it's just a HUGE pain in the ***.

I'll add pics of mine in a minute.

Just warning you, bro.

You should be able to hook up the wheel puller inside the airbag area and then just screw them in slowly one at a time so that they're even and the wheel should pull right off.

Im sure you have already taken then bolt off. You can get a universal steering wheel puller at austozone for under 10 bucks. I switched my non tilt to a tilt its easy.

I used a 89. Its only the one bolt by the rack and 4 under the dash, then the connectors. The only modding is the brushes for the horn and CC. Its easy though. Ive had a couple comments from guys here about it being illegal and Im sure it is but Ive never had a cop say anything or for that matter anyone.
