does your car get more power w/o an a/c system
i just but a 89 mustang gt HO STDand the whole a/c has been taken out everything. i dont know that much about engine's but the guy that i bought the car from told me that w/o the a/c you will get more hp and i he also took out the fan and put in 2 16" electric fan and a cold air intake. im not too sure on the power if it went up or down or where i stand. i was wonder if you stangs can help me out with an approx. hp i running. i would take it to a shop but i am in the hole broke $

thats about right they are rated at like 225 but over the years they drop in hp but loosing the ac will get rid of like 50lbs from the engine compartment and make a little more hp. the electric fan gets rid of the extra drag on the engine to free up even more hp and cool the engine even better. the cai is def a good add on now all you gotta do is get a hole exhaust system. they say you can get like 25-50 hp out of a cai but that only happens if you have the right exhaust cause it will be suckin in a lot of air but the pipes arent big enough to push it back out.

Hes right about the stock RWHP being in that range, I know I gained 25RWHP from ditching the fan for an elec fan. As far as the A/C being deleted I dont know, even if you dynoed it with the ac in the car and turned on, the computer shuts off the ac at WOT so then the AC just becomes another free spinning pully with little drag.

50HP from an exhaust in a 5.0!??! I couldn't imagine that much without adding heads to the bill.
But maybe I'm wrong... If that's the case... I need to buy some headers to compliment the rest of my intake/exhaust system hehe
I'd lose .25 off the quarter if that's true lol.

yeah I didnt think it would be that kind of gain but it was. Im guessing my clutch was stuck on the fan or something.
