I know you have a big enough fuel pump but there could be something holding it back, while I was curing my issue I had correct fuel pressure, but my pump wasnt putting out enough at WOT causing it to Lean pop. Just a few ideas for ya, hope it helps

While reading books i just got on engine rebuilding it states that modified engines trying
to use stock 5/16" fuel lines will experience problems and need to upgrade to entire 7/16" fuel lines.
"you can have the strongest fuel pump in the world but if you dont have enough fuel line to feed it, your engine will be starved "
Also, you may need a custom chip burned to tell the EEC about the bigger injectors
and MAF and such, dyno tunes do wonders

AS you are right ^^ this combo should not require all that, mine runs fine after I upgraded my fuel pump. heres a question 91bklx...how old is your fuel filter? if its clogged then not much fuel will get through it causing it to run lean under a load condition...

your distributor is off by one tooth.
when you had the engine at top dead center on the #1 pistons compression stroke where did the rotor point?
it should be almost straight back, and a little to the right, on a clock it would be at around the 12:45 position.
I had the same thing happen when I did my heads the first time.
I tried adjusting it all, fuel pressure/timing/tps/cleaned the MAF, and nothing worked.
it ran better with a stupid amount of timing 20 degrees base.

silver91gt - Just tried to move the dizzy so that the rotor points to approx. 12:45 on a clock as previously mentioned. Verified 10 degree base timing before trying this and now with the dizzy moved one tooth, timing is so far after TDC that the base timing can't be adjusted as far as 0 degrees, let alone 10 degrees. 2 kwik, the rockers are adjusted as per Trickflow's specifications. Also checked to see if I had a bum timing chain and gear set, but it's all in spec. Any more ideas????

With 22 degrees base (and the pinging to go along with it) she will pull her RPM a little better but still not right. This over advancement must be compensating for some problem. Also this is my first time on this forum and you guys have been very helpfull with all of your suggestions. Thanks.
