shift kit will get rid of the "slop" when shifting your auto. Right now, you give her hell and it will just "coast" into gear.... a shift kit will go right into gear, no slipping. I wouldnt drive an auto without one to be honest with you. from the factory, autos are set up to be very smooth when shifting which is pretty lame. Get a transgo shift kit, you will love it. http://www.transgo.com/rpg_ford.php

Also, when your stock tranny shifts during WOT it seems as if it don`t want to shift. With a kit it shifts, mine anyways, at about 5500-5800rpms every gear. Only bad thing is when just cruising it shifts early. Absolutly love it!! Bang 2nd and break sideways and a chirp in Drive.

I love my shift kit. My car is pretty much bone stock, but even on light throttle when it hits second it normally chirps. At wot the car feels like it jumps going 1-2 and 2-3. I would really recommend picking up a shift kit. I wouldn't install the new governer valve until you have some serious mods. You don't want to shift at 5500rpm with a stock motor.
