Definitely not an average joe job IMO. I highly recommend getting a mechanic who specializes in electrical.

I've seen a wiring harness and for an average joe it would be hard. And everything's always easier taking it out then putting it in, remember that.

Currently im in the middle of reattching wires. The car i got was ****ed around with before i got it and now im doing the job myself. Ive taken a few classes in high school for electronics/electrical. Give yourself lots of time and if you think you can do it go ahead. But if you dont have any background in electrical leave it alone and try and find a friend to help you do it. Re-attching wires is a little more complicated then just putting a in a entire harness but you do need to know where to clip in every little end. Good luck.
