How quickly will the leak get worse? Overnight?

It depends. Mine has been dripping for a few years now. Just a little here and there. Not enough to make me do somethin' about it!!

Join the club. Its pretty common for high milage cars to leak from there. I wouldn't worry about it to much. My oil pan gasket has large pieces of it sticking out of the side of the pan. If I take turns to hard I can loose a 1/4 of a quart. My motor still runs and it has 245k miles on it. Just get used to adding a quart or 2 every couple thousand miles.

LOL! Zack, you know you can loosen the pan bolts and shove the gasket back in. Done it a few times on other cars.

I probably should get the felpro multi piece and put it in. I know it probably won't seal perfect but it will be better then what I have.

i have a 85 f350, with a 351w
my rear main started leaking a little, then worse.
i dropped the pan put an oil pump in it, and took the back main cap off, and was down in the copper
or babbitt.(the gold color ya hate to see)
put a new seal in it, it beat the seal back out because of the slack in bearings
sometimes its not just your seal
im still driving it though,i built a motor for it 7 years ago thinking it would start knocking
still waiting on it too blow up, those windsor motors are pretty tuff, same with a 302

Thanks folks. Good to know that I don't have to cough up money within the next week to get fixed. I'll just ride it until I wear the clutch out I guess. Now I'm wondering what effect the leak has on my oil level, and perceived oil consumption. Maybe I'm not burning as much as I thought I was.
