Default AHHAA! Idle Problem Solved....Kinda

Alright for those of you that remember I had a idle problem at start up for about 1 minute. Well while I was adjusting my base idle and waiting for it to settle I unplugged the vacuum line to my EGR and bam! it fixed itself! So here is my question. I took off all the smog crap, do I need to have this line pluged to the EGR? I drove around the block without it and everyhting felt fine. Any ideas?

ok so u dont have the smog junk? if not than u can take the vac line off of the egr. BUT that should not change vaccum because with out the vaccum hooked up for the smog that has no vaccum.

Thats why I never suspected it in the first place with the idle problem. Maybe the EGR is clogged? Who knows.

What does the EGR do anyway Tim?

You shouldn't have vacuum at the EGR valve line engine idling. You might want to recheck your vacuum line routing....if you removed the smog stuff, all you need is a vacuum supply line to the EGR Valve Regulator (EVR) solenoid (this line would have vacuum @idle) and a line from the EVR to the EGR valve. The EVR is the solenoid the EEC-IV system activates to open the valve during part-throttle load conditions....never @WOT or engine idling. My 2¢.
