I dont know if this is true or not but I also heard that they rated the 93 GT at such low hp because they really wanted the cobra to look alot better. I mean be serious, who would pay all that extra money for a Cobra badge and 15-20 hp? I know I sure as hell wouldnt.
thats not true, the 93-95 cobra's were rated at 245 but when people threw them on the dyno they were actually doing 245 to the wheels, this is common for company to underate vehicles hp levels.

You had a big weight advantange on an F body vert, too.....

Basically what it comes down to is that a stock fox 86-93 will dyno w/in 5-10 hp of each other [usually ~180-190ish], so they're all basically "the same" even w/ the changes Ford made....

Also consider that you can take 3 of the same car, ANY car, and dyno them and they will vary a little also.

I have always heard that the 89-92 cars were rated at 225/300 93-95 is like 205/300(?). I don't think that between 89-92 the horsepower rating changed whatsoever.

It definately did, you think changing engine components doesn't change the power? Pistons, cam and SD-MAF as all changed

Block goes before the pistons would, so I wouldn't be worried about it.
thats a new one, without the right tune and enuff juice boost or compression those hyper pistins will detonate holes write through them, dont remember hearing a block go simply cuz of a bad tune, i could be wrong though.

When I first started reading these forums, everyone seemed to repeat over and over that the "weak" stock 302 block would go before the pistons would.

The beat it into me pretty hard

Yah, pistons go before the block, but when either one goes you need work on both so no matter how you look at it you're screwed aha
