Mmmmm 5.69 liters tastes even better! Thank you for fixing my calculation. Not to mention a 351w being 5.8 and so on....
I think 94 octane is enough for 8.3:1 compression for going back and forth to work. Correct me if I'm wrong but stock compression is higher than what I'll be running and 91 octane back in the 80's was probably the best they had at the pump. Think about that. Once you go up into the 11 and 12 ratio's you'd want race gas, or at least mix a couple gallons of it with 91+ to prevent detonation.
1. The compression is what my engine builder "has in mind" I just took his word for it and posted it in here.
2. Port and polish may be a bad choice of words. How about bored out or honed?
3. Yes, it's a real project and not dreamt, because it's almost done! Although I do have dreams about it getting done.
If you see any project failures or wrong info, please humor me since you have been building engines for 35+ years. I have only been working on cars for 5.

Back in the 80's they had better gas than we do now aswell, gas gets worse with every passing year.
Not to insult you, but I don't believe that you have been building engines for 35 years if you're running 94 octane on an engine that only makes 8.3 : 1 compression :\ You should know better than that

No I'm the one that's been building engines, as a hobby for 35 years.
If you had an 8.3 compression, you could probably run 80 octane tractor fuel........
Now think about this, if you are at any sort of elevation say 2000' above sea level you can run a higher compression than 9 and still use 93 grade. I know peeps here in Arizona that are running 10 compression N/A engines (carbed) and using 93 octane at the strip and running 11's.....

RE: How much HP and Torque will I have?
I've been thinking more and more about running a 150 - 200 shot of nitrous instead of the blower now. Should I keep the compression the same or raise it if I do that?
Also, should I get a new cam grinded and what other things would I need to change if I go the spray route instead?

I think I'll be beating most people. There are a couple of 11 second 03 cobra's and Supra's around here that I'll have to worry about. Ha ha and this one guy that put a turbo Talon engine in an old Colt body. Run's 10.8 all day.

10.8... insane.. such a small little car

RE: How much HP and Torque will I have?
Plans have changed for the motor now. Paint, body and everything else is done. A 351w bored out to a 427 is going in now instead. The only thing I need for it is a Carberater, Intake Manifold and fuel pump. Not knowing a whole lot about carberated applications, what would be the best bolt on's to go for? Holley Carb, Victor intake? Thanks.
