Default 5.0 timing advance

I have a 93 mustang gt with a for most part stock motor. I want to get the most out the motor without changing the heads cam exc. I am currently building a 408 stroker so i dont want to waste my time and money changing parts on the 302. I heard that advancing the timing will allow you to pick up some on the track. I currently race and street drive the car, but its not my daily driver. I want to get the most out it will not hurting the bottom end. Any suggestions or comments would be apprieciated. Thanks

Default RE: 5.0 timing advance

advancing timing will help a little. Other than that the cheapest route is to start removing components. Smog, a/c, hatch, doors, interior, hood, tires, motor............
