Default Electrical issues

Charged up the battery, got every problem sorted out with the car and the new motor and stuff. Well now a new problem has risen, I have a charging issue of some kind. Not sure if its due to a bad alternator, because that worked fine when it came out of the car. So i'm really not sure what the issue is. I was watching my aftermarket volt guage and it started to drop off after 10 miles then my radio died out and my tach died too. So.. Whats the issue here!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you pull the -cable off and the engine dies it means the alt is bad.

When it is running, check the alt with a volt meter...you should be getting like 14.4 volts at the alt if it is working properly.

Like Stanger said, check voltage with a DC volt meter and it should be running from 13½ to 14½ volts with the engine running and the electrical accessories off. Also, be sure to check all of your connections to make sure they are tight and clean. With it dying off like you said it makes me wonder if a connection point is getting hot from resistance (which can result from dirt or a loose connection).

Oh and regarding pulling the battery cables while the engine is running; Bad Idea. If your alternator is not bad it will be after that trick surges a few times and blows the diodes.
