Best of Luck to you.....it's a lot of fun if you're the type to get in and get your hands into everything....I enjoy mine a lot.....when i get time to tweak.

any of you guys have any ideas about changin out the speedo on the 86? at a fun ford day in rockingham, nc i saw a guy and he said you could send the speedo to steeda(i think) and they would put a new face on it either 140 or 200 and recalibrate it for you for $140 plus shipping. sounded really good to me, i tried to email steeda but they never responded. anyone know if you can just put an auto meter speedometer in place of the factory one?

Not sure on that one.....I've heard of it being done and have even seen a site before that had pics of a guy's 86 with autometer speedo.......I'll see if i can't find it again and send it to you.

Now that you mention it, lol, I think I am going to keep it. Since I only have the body to play with, I starting working on the front nose. IE painting the headlight covers and trim, foglight brackets etc... Wow, it made quite a difference. Thanks for all of the input. As for the interior, I will never change the interior, that is what I love most about the 85-86. Something about the gauge setup and the steering wheel just looks great. I hated the steering wheel in all of my 87-90 cars.

I'm def with you on the steering wheel. Changing it all out seems kinda like a hassel, I might look into mixing and matching a little bit, just to do something different. Another thread was talking about gauge setups and this site has some really cool stuff that I might end up doing in the future. Check it out, it's http://secure.florida50.com/cgi-bin/...ml?id=aw4XcTEH all of those are for the 84-86's.

Ok, I'm confused....what does the steering wheel look like in your 86s? Because mine is almost identical to an 87 to 89 fox wheel.

Nevermind now....I see.....to keep your wheel and use the newer dash...you will need to acquire a 87 to 89 non airbag equipped car column cover. (or 4 cyl car)
The steering wheel from the 86 is almost the same as 87-89 cars w/o bags or 4cyl. Not the big goofy looking thing that had the airbag in it.
