RE: I KEEP READING THIS IN MAGAZINE'S...I NEED FACTS
Calibrated MAF don't send false information....they are adjusted for a specific combination of injectors size (known) and ECM logic (known)....that's a way of doing upgrades. Ford setups, on the other hand, are made to work as a team....ECM logic is designed to work with the MAF and injectors combo.......if you interchange within Fords setups, they would work, but not at optimum either, b/c the EEC-IV load tables are different.....best way to make any tuning worth, is to either get a chip burned by a reputable tuner, or DIY using an aftermarket EEC controller......this last one is more flexible, but it also requires a learning curve.

are u saying i can use a lightning maf with my 24's???????

dude... stop thinking... your hurting my brain
the MAF measures airflow by the amount of voltage that flows across two wires inside the unit. as air passes over them, they cool. the maf tries to keep them at a certain temperature
now.... a "tuned" maf will have a higher internal resistance which lowers the output voltage sent back to the ECM (look at the graph joel posted)
im saying a STOCK lightning meter can be installed in your car... without 42 lb injectors
STOCK... the tune is in the computer.... NOT the maf

I'm a little confused,
How do I order a Lightning 90mm MAF that is not tuned for any injector, or are you
saying that even though it says its for 42lbs injectors it will work fine 24's if the ECM
is tuned for it?
This confuses the hell out of me, sorry try and walk me thru it baby steps.

yes, if your computer is recalibrarted with the MAF table from the 90mm mass air meter.
what the aftermarkeet ones do is adjust there output to tell the EEC what they know it wants to see.
when you enter the Lightning 90mm MAF table into the EEC with something like Tweecer, you
decide what the computer wants to see from the meter, so you dont need a meter that is "tuned"
for a certain injector in relation to your stock MAF/injector table.
You tell the EEC what injectors you have and enter the new MassAirFunction table into the computer
I think I finally understand.

ALL STOCK METERS will work on all stock cars...
you can take the meter that is in my cobra (24# injectors) and run it in a stock GT with 19# injectors
the difference is in the ECM NOT THE MAF
all maf's work the same... the aftermarket ones that are "tuned" actually run a higher resistance on the signal that goes back to the ECU... like joel said
Run a stock lightning meter... not one thats "tuned" and your all set
i'll bet anyone on this forum that you can swap a cobra maf into a GT and have it run fine

RE: I KEEP READING THIS IN MAGAZINE'S...I NEED FACTS
was the 93 cobra the first year they used a "smart" eec? the eec-iv right? i was reading that the eec-iv can self adjust for heads and cam swaps also...

fourth paragraph. benefits of a eec-iv... EEC-IV read
