Default Ok guys...degree my cam..

I have been thinking about degreeing my cam. I was looking to going 5* advance to bring my torque curve into lowwer RPM for more fun the the street, but i think that will hurt me at the track. I don't really know much about this, all I know is I am at 0* now for best all around, 5* advance lowers the torque and 5* retarded raises the torque curve. I just want to know what you guys are doing...thanks

degreeing the cam according to the valve timing events on the cam card, every cam is different. Buy a degree wheel and use a coat hanger for the pointer

I have a stock cam. I was told I should look into this form a guy I talked too. Can you only do it if you have a aftermarket cam? I was looking that the multi keyed timing gear set to adjust it.

No difference? I am modded a little...I have milled and ported e7 has and 1.7 rockers. I was just going to replace the chain and gear set so I was wondering.

Ok well if you want the practice, first you need the valve timing events to degree the cam. Just using a 3 keyed crank gear is not degreeing

It will aid you in degreeing the cam according to valve timing events, furthermore you will need a dial indicator with magnetic base and preferably a solid lifter to read from. Its always easier to degree the cam with the heads off also, as you should use a TDC stop. Like I said, in your setup I would look towards other things to do to your car.

Have you considered a cam swap? You'll be most of the way into it if your pulling off the timing cover minus the intake and valve covers. I have built a few 351W's with Crane's billet double roller ($99) and a few 302's with FMS double rollers chains, both with multiple possiblities.

If you have not swapped out the gears that might give you more bang for your buck...sorry I didn't read your mods.

I am worried about piston to valve clearnace with my milled heads (.030) and the 1.7 rockers.
