Intakes.... Street or Track heat? Please help!

Well the time has finally come and I almost have enough for an intake. I decided to go along with the Trickflow. My question is what intake would peform the best for me on the street and maybe the track during the summertime? I know that the street heat is good for idle to 5500, while the track heat is good for 1500-6500. Considering im only 16 I cant rebuild my block yet, so I dont think that the track heat would get me anywhere, because I wouldnt rev the engine that high ever on stock internals and 118k. Let me know any details on these intakes, and also will I feel an increase in power? Thanks everyone

i say track heat. i never understood that from "idle" to 5500 thing. who the hell cares about hp at idle or before 1500rpms? i always think ahead, but if you're not going to increase your displacement say over a 306 get a street.

The street heat is much better suited for your combo since your powerband tops out mid 5000's. The difference between the two is the length of the runners. The track heat has 12" runners instead of 14" like the street heat. Longer runners develop more low end tq, but don't hold the power to the higher rpms. That's why you see boosted applications running box upper intakes=very short runners....max top end power.
