Default Adjusted timing

I just adjusted the timing on my car, had been meaning to do it for a while. Recently the idle had been a little high for the most part until it really warmed up, that had been taking a while too. Now that I adjusted it a little bit it drops right down to around 500-600 and runs perfectly smooth. I still need a timing light and when I do I'll have to check and see what it's actually running at.

I just set the timing on my car. I thought I had it pretty close, but I wanted to be sure. Well, the point of the story is it was 20 deg advanced. NOT TOO GOOD. I suggest not hammering it until you put a light on it.

DEfinately get a light on her and find out.

Even a few degrees can cause detonation.

With 20 degrees out youre lucky to have head gaskets.

I knew something was wrong because it was running hot and was lacking low end power. I only took it on one test run but I did make a few full throtle runs so, yea I'm lucky. Useing the timeing light for the first time was fun. Watching the timing change when you rev the motor and seeing it move as you turn the distributor, that was cool. I love flashing lights so that's no surprise.

It's a 76 Saab. Just kidding. What do you mean? I have a 88 Ford. If your asking who made the block, it is stock. The car's a pile of crap but it runs great so I just have fun with it. I've got to get some pictures.

yea, I was actually thinking about going out to get one today, I barely moved it as it was so I dont' think I have to worry about it being too far. I jsut wanted to play with it a little bit.
