I dropped a 302 in my 68

I have not hooke dup the EFI and m running an Edelbrock 600

Edelbrock Heads

Stock Cam

I am having some issues with the timing and power band, it just seems to lack guts at this point. Any thoughts?

I am not sure what the timing settings are it is an HO 302

The guys helping me are all Chevy guys and a bit confused. I am trying to get some timing tape...seems rich now

make sure your number one is lined up with the rotor on your dizzy before you mess with your timing. If your one thread off your going to have problems.

You need to get your carb tuned as well. It sounds like you are suspicious of the tune.

That's the base with an EFI car. Once you hook the SPOUT back up it idles in the 20's. You may need to get some carbed 302 guys on here to explain what they set for timing.

On my '85 (carbed) its set to 13 BTDC. Also, what timing gears are you using? I once bought a set the had 3 different ways you could mount it, this was on my first stang (79)when I was 17 or so, anyway I accidentally put it on one of the other holes, and the car made NO power at all with the factory timing. I actually had to retard the timing like crazy, it was set @ 5degrees ATDC. It ran like a raped ape after that.

PS: I usually NEVER use a timing light to time cars, I do it by throttle response. Basically, rev the motor, when theres NO hesitation your timings dead nuts.

I am using an MSD ignition and distributor. It comes with weights which can be inserted.

So I reckon it is tune the carb

Nail the timing

and check on the insertion of the weights
