****ing totalled my 87 5.0 GT last night.

Tell me if this is completely my fault...

First of all I was running some 17x10 inch tires all around and the road was wet but it was not raining

I am going pretty slow and then the road opens up so I downshift to 2nd gear and hit almost red-line then I press the clutch, shift to third, and then release the clutch without revving up the engine. Then the car starts to fishtail and I lose control and smash into another car.

I assume what went wrong was that the engine needed to be around 3-4k RPMs and usually on dry pavement the tires would have gripped and brought the engine up to speed, but since it was wet out the back tires just completely lost control. I've only had the car a week and its my first time owning a RWD car but I am pretty sure if I pressed the clutch immediately when I started losing it I probably could have re-gained control.


Am I a complete idiot or has anyone else ****ed up like this before?

that sux and you are an idiot for taching out your car on wet roads with other people around. be glad you didnt kill someone.

theres no way you had 17x10 inch tires / wheels in the front. by the way sorry dude that sucks but the price of all of our 50's just went up .5 cents.

First, your not an idiot just a little inexperienced. Second, we have all been there and
have done things in our cars we wish we hadn't. Glad your not injured and hopefully
you can put this behind you and gain knowledge from this unfortunate occurance.

Yea..it's completely your fault. Powerful cars + inexperienced drivers = confused and pissed off kids and totalled cars.

Don't you dare blame this on the car's traction or clutch control. Fess up to your mistake and accept that you made a stupid decision. Let this be a lesson to you. Learn from it and teach from it. Like stated earlier...be GLAD you didnt kill anyone.

I did I bought the car with those rims but they did rub slightly during turns.

dang, you did screw up but im not gonna lecture like everyone else. So you hit another car and you suck at driving. Im sure almost everyone has been in an accident so as long as noone got hurt and you have insurance its not a problem. Just don do it again. and no i have never done that. Now you know that these things are always squirrally on wet cement.
