Electrical problem

RE: Electrical problem
are you testing this circuit with a digital meter? Test lights are not the best idea for circuits related to the computer. If you are getting your 12V to the coil+ with the ignitiohn in the "on" position then your problem is the coil or the ground circuit(wich consists of the wire, a balast resistor, and the ECU). the balast resistor may be the wire itself. the ECU acts as a switch for the ground circuit, turning the coil on and off. to test the ground circiut and Computer at the same time, disconnect both pos and neg wires from the coil, then connect the digital meter to the neg. post of the coil and the other probe to the positive post of the coil. First test for continuity (Ohms) on a low scale of the meter such as 2000(not 2000k). If the meter reads 1 or infinity then the coil is deffinitly not working. If the meter reads zero then go on to the next test. Re-connect both pos and neg wires to the coil. Put test leads on the coil again the same way as the first test but set the meter to Volts this time(such as 20V scale). Turn key of car to "start" and crank the motor. the meter should flash from 12V to 0V. If the meter stays at 0V then the computer is a likely cause.
