efi to carb swap???

RE: efi to carb swap???
First off what year stang? Depending on the year of the stang, you might need a distributor or you might not. Youll more than likely need a disty that has the module mounted right on it, then youll obviously need an intake, carb, and a throttle cable, as the one for FI is way longer than the carb one. Youll also need to change your fuel pump or regulate the one youve got, carbs only require like 7PSI, where the FI setup is like 60psi (dependent on vehicle). Other than that I dont see anything else youll need. I so love carbs, theyre so easy its sick, you always have the feeling like youre forgetting something when your not. Or another thing you could do is get a tank off of a 79-85 (itll be a direct bolt in), and a mechanical fuel pump that bolts to the side of your timing cover. Im not sure if the newer model timing covers have the hole for the FP anymore so you might need to get a timing cover off of a carbed 302.

There is enough information here to do what you want.

I used that information to do the swap on my 93 Tbird

RE: efi to carb swap???
i used jason fletchers site (linked above) to convert my 88 stang to carb. It was alot easier than it sounds, so don't be skeered. I did it cuz i wanted to build horsepower cheaper than buying all the extra EFI parts that are expensive. It cost me about $600 bucks to convert mine with all new parts (carb/intake/fuelpump/regulator/blah blah), and it's pretty easy to tune. You can get carbs and intakes pretty cheap off of ebay if you were looking to save a buck.
ALSO, if you have an 86 to 93 you WILL need a new dizzy, and new fuel pump. DO NOT try to regulate the stock pump down to 7 psi (many carbs max out at 7 - 14 psi) because you'll most likely blow out the seals in the regulator and carb, so just get a holley blue pump, or a mechanical pump (if your timing cover is equipped to bolt one on). I got a PROCOMP pump brand new from ebay for $55 bucks which is the cheaper equivalent of the holley blue, and it works great, but you will need to buy a regulator to use it.
Good luck, and if u got any questions, just ask.
