rear bearing
i took apart my rear end because one of the bearings are noisey... its not the one you press onto the pinion gear, but the one that sits in the houseing... how hard is it to change? i couldnt tell how it comes out

RE: rear bearing
well i changed out alot of parts, exept the axles pretty much... and when im driving in lower gears and i let off the gas i can still feel play in the rear end, could it be the axles worn out? any ideas? i thought it was the clutch packs put its not... and i dont think the gears are trailing right, because it is wearing a little on the inside of the ring gear, but hardley

RE: rear bearing
sound like too much backlash clearance in the ring and pinion gear if you can hear it that clearly when you let off the gas. go back in there and check the backlash and adjust the shims as necessary to get it right this time.

RE: rear bearing
yep you have too much back lash need maybe 2 sizes thicker shim...what shim did you use..when I use fms gears the factory shim gets me really close sometime right on...this is not the case with other gear makers..
