Default GEAR ?s & DRIVETRAIN ?s

I have a 1994 Mustang GT automatic. I bought 373's. Waiting to have those installed. How much of a gain will I make in a 1/4. My car got smoked by a 1999 Grand Prix GT, because my car has no low end torque at all.[:@] Im sure the gears will make a difference, but the engine only shifts at 4800 rpm and redlines at 5900. I heard the tranny in the autos are crap, and I dont have the money to replace it. so what other bolt on parts could I get that are cheap. Shift kit? Headers? Anything that would stretch out the powerband and give me that quickness off the line.
Thanks

you'd be better off w/ 4.10's with the auto, and i'd put an exuast on it at least

w/ 3.73's you will still bog a little w/ no converter, but notice a bug diff in SOTP feel

if you get a converter go w/ 3000 , lower will not be a big gain , 2200 feels stock, i had one

but you should cut about 1/2 to 3/4 sec ET off w/ traction

depends what you have now, some aod's had 3.27's and then you will see a minimal gain. i had that in my old '90 aod

code "e" in the door tag under ax
m=2.73 z=3.08 e=3.27

my '90 gt went 14.40's w/ tires and 3.73

still pretty slow, but the aod is heavy, robs buku power, and geared horribly.

an aod car w/ 3.73's is geared (total gear...1st gear X rear ratio) less than a 5-speed w/ 3.08's
