AOD trans with performance automotive valve body and transbrake?
 

I installed a perfomance valve body in my aod tranny on Saturday. I have a pretty well built tranny and I am running a 3500 stall converter. I am curious if there is any one here that has experience with a transbrake and cant tell me how they work. When I activate the trans brake and put on the gas it will only rev up to around 3500 rpm and when I realease the switch it takes off just enough so it wont brake the tires lose then a second later every thing kicks in. My questionis on a trans brake should you be able to launch at any rpm?

only as high and ur torque converter will let it

Oh and by the way good choice with going with PA. I have PA parts in my 69, awsome tranny.

a trans brake just lockes the trans between rev and 1st and allows you to stall the converter out

Thanks for the info. Someone told me it was suppose to engage like a clutch and I should be able to dump it at any rpm. I didnt think that was the case. Has any one raced with a trans brake? I have played with it on the street a little bit. I tried both ways using the trans brake or just putting my foot on the brake and let her rip. Trans brake there is no spinning tires or if so very little. By using my foot on the brake I just spin for 30 ft.

there was a kid on pinks who was launching off a trans brake

he had a 4000 stall tho

and yes, he was driving a fox mustang

t-brake should blow the tires off more than flashing the converter.

I run a brake on the street with a converter that flashes around 5400

So do you think I need to run a higher stall? I have never had a mustang with an auto. I have always ran with a 5spd and slicks. I would like to get the car to the point where I can pull the front wheels of the ground at the track.

torque will do that, launching with spray will help
