C-Clip eliminator question

I am trying to find a good article on how the new ends are attached for an 8.8 c-clip elim kit. I am hoping you cut the orginal flange off and the new end is stepped (like a socket weld pipe fitting) so it more or less centers itself and is than welded? Are you able to back weld (inside tube) or is the only weld a fillet around the tube? A pic of the new end installed would be great!
