The AODE is the Electronic version of the AOD, both mate up to the Windsor blocks without any difference. The AODs from 89-93 are all interchangable as are the EEC-IV computers (A9P is the most popular automatic computer)
The AODE will not work with an automatic EEC-IV computer from the 89-93. However you can get an aftermarket controller for it. The later version of the AODE is the 4r70w with built in wide-ratio gearing
Baumann Engineering makes an aftermarket controller that's really nice - you'd be able to change the settings of your tranny on track day
