the 1996 explorer 5.0 are the cast gt40 heads, you can pick those up for a decent price at a junkyard. or you can be shady like most people here in el paso and take your stock heads off and go to autozone and get the heads for a 1996 explorer, and it comes to about 300 bucks. not bad for an head upgrade. But make sure you get the 1996 the 1997 have the gt40p and youll need new headers and whatnot to run those.

the 351 uses bigger head bolts, you will need inserts to bolt these heads on a 302.

The older heads from about 1966-1973 Are about the best flowing factory heads, and that includes 289,302, 351 Windsors. The 5,0 heads or E7's are *** for heads.

I got a wreckers here that sells heads for $24.99 a pop (you must pull the part yourself). Now, the catch is that you kinda have to be there at the right time since everybody knows about GT40 heads on expos and VTEC heads for Hondas.

Is it worth it really to swap to a expo head if it's going to be a long time before I could afford Aluminum heads??

I know it's an iron head, but are the flow numbers much better?

Thanks,
-Ivan
