with installation.

you save $500 on short block.

have to buy.
flywheel and balancer ..... $500
install kit ....................... $600 http://www.mspmall.com/ddautospec/swapkits.html
brackets for accessories...... $100
351 distributor ............. $250

thats about it., you might need a new hood too, they run about $375 if look around.

^^ Or you can get a used hood for half the price. Im telling you... I have seen people take 351W's past 600hp. There is really no reason why you shouldnt get it!

I have seen the light! R.barn helped me out a great deal on where to get the block and switch kit. It really does make sense to get the 351w since I am pretty sure that I can get most of the other parts a lot cheaper than what they would cost normally.

there are people in here making 400+rwhp with boost or spray
on stock bottom ends.

tell'n ya, just get a new stock 351W short block, it was made from the factory
to take 400hp easy and they are dirt cheap compared to forged/stroked 302's

you'll get the 325rwhp you want from the start and could easily push 400rwhp with
a mild 75 shot of nitrous later.

and it shouldnt cost you much more than what you have already laid out.

Yeah, I have been debating on doing the installation myself with the help of my dad. The main thing is that I wanted to know if the jump to the 306 would be worth the price for the return gain of rwhp and the ability to spray the motor at a later date.
Now wait a minute. A stock 351W puts out 325 rwhp? I dont believe it. Please explain yourself, are you counting as if he installed his desired h/c/i already?

I believe so. At least I hope so. Using AFR 185cc heads, "f" cam and maybe victor junior or stealth intake.

Ok, so including all of the parts on your horsepower wish list and the cost for the block and rotating assembly, how much moola are we looking at here. I want to do the 351 swap this winter and next summer Ill worry about upgrading it. If you could, break the list down into the cost for each part that would be great, because this is very intersting.

with the money that you are talking about spending....i would look into a vortech supercharger setup.....that way you still have a daily driver with a bunch of throttle just waiting to be planted.....

what ever you do stay away from powerdyne.....yea they are cheaper BUT you get what you pay for.....i have ran both powerdyne and vortech......and vortech is hands down the better charger.....

that is my opinion.......

and as far as the labor for building and installing that other motor.......ummmmmm where do you live and do i need my own tools.????

That is way down the line from now but I do favor the turbo over the spray if I am going to build the motor from scratch. This way I will know that I will stay together when I romp it. As far as my location I am located in Humble, TX just north of houston. PM me if you are serious about the labor part.
