Picked up a Foxbody w/o Trans or Engine, Need Help
Alright, I'm new to these boards. There's a reason. I'm new to Ford.
I just picked up a Foxbody body with a roll cage for free. I'm looking forward to working on this car because I've never worked on a Ford in my life. So, as expected, I have a few questions that might make me seem like a relative newbie.
First off, what kind of engine can I cram under this hood? I was looking into putting a regular 5.0 in here, because that's what came with it, and I've always thought that the engine is extremely easy to work with, and can see some amazing gains.
If not what's up in the air with my "Ford Guy" is a 351, if I can find one cheap on ebay, or in a junkyard.
Right now the car is stripped entirely, and is being painted a Matte black. Afterwards, I'm hoping to get one of the girls that does pinstriping for "Voodoo Kings" car club around here to do this baby.
If you can think of anything else, let me know. Thanks a bunch, guys.

you can put a 460 in it if you want to. easily .
a nice 302 or 351 will make all the power you could want though.
stroke the 302 to about 347 , and add a blower....decent heads/cam/intake you'll make 500+ hp to the rear wheels

It all depends on what you want your set up to be. 1/4 mile car a 351 stroked out with NO2 410 gears. Street 331 stoker or the 302 with 373 or 355 with heads and cam bolt on's. Some spray or you can throw some boost or turbo. You should look at what you want your set up to be, how much are you willing to spend and go from there. Good luck!

It all comes down to how much money you want to spend and is this for street or pure drag?
Personally
go with a 351W, they dont cost anymore than a 302 and are a lot stronger block.
you can get new stock 351W short block for well under $1000.
throw some TwistedWedge heads and a 4 brl carb on there
and your good to go for 400hp or 325rwhp.
Throw a 10psi blower on later and see 500rwhp
Later on add fuel injection if you want, you use stock 5.0 computer and wiring
and use GT-40 intake off a Lightning or TrickFlow and Edlebroke make them new.
351 mounts up in same place and use same trans. and accessories.

some ideas of what is easily possible, you could save $1,000 or more building same combo up your self.

This is going to be a street machine, but that doesn't mean that some beef under the hood is not in store. A 351 Windsor sounds like a good bet, and a local junkyard around here is host to $50 Wednesdays where an engine + transmission of choice is only fifty bucks if I pull it myself. I'm a guy on a budget, so that junkyard is a lifesaver. What particular tranny would you folks recommend?
I also want a good hot rod rumble. So, I'm probably just going to dump the exhaust right underneath the headers, but I'm not too sure about that. I just want a good ol' fashioned muscle car for cheap, not a dragster.
